Snacks, rain, DIY, and a cold...

It's been raining nonstop for the last week now. It's also been unusually chilly here (the Tropics people!), so it's no wonder I got a cold. Chicken soup made by the hubs, hot chocolate made from soy milk, strawberry yogurt with quinoa pipocas (it's like rice krispies but made from quinoa), toasty slippers, and lots of garlic (not in that order, but eating it raw with your food really helps you fight off all bacteria associated with a cold).

Today was a great day despite being really sick. I worked on a logo with my husband...we've been joining design forces lately for a new client. I began my first DIY Scarf + String Art + Bleach Tutorial! Here's a sneak peak:

I hope to get it done tomorrow! :)

Some changes + a new video

Some changes have been going on recently...haven't updated or worked much on Hibou. I promise myself that will change very soon. I've been working lots on my dog clothing line and other freelance design gigs recently. One of my goals is to start putting some cool DIY tutorials to share with you guys. Here's a video I made this week (with the help of my husband!) that shows my drawing process. I frequently get asked how it is that I draw and how long it takes. I hope you like it! - C

Ammonite and Lace

New necklace! This is an MDF laser cut illustration of an ammonite I hand-drew. I used a sweet touch of lace to tie it in the back. Hope you like it :)

Nuevo collar! Está cortado a láser sobre MDF y es una ilustración que hice a mano de un ammonites. Usé un pequeño toque de encaje para amarrarlo. Ojalá les guste :)

Afternoon inspiration

The entire day has been sort of dark and gloomy, but I must admit I really enjoy working on days like these. I find the somber palette to be inspiring rather than distracting. So that's what I've been doing all day. Gathering different ideas for many of the projects we want to incorporate into HIBOU later on. A little coffee makes it nicer too. So, how's your day been so far?

Teak Block Printing

I just saw this spectacular video made by West Elm, on a trip they made to northern India, showing local artisans hand-carving teak blocks and printing quilts and fabrics with them. Amazing!
